3/1/2024 0 Comments Jude study jackie hill perryThe last day, she had us write our own doxologies to mimic the doxologies of many NT epistles, such as Jude 24-25. I got a lot of practice flipping around! It makes me so excited to continue studying the Old Testament, since I’ve been focusing more on the New Testament lately. I was expecting to walk away from this only knowing more about the book of Jude itself, but I learned so much about the whole Bible (Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Psalms, Joel, Malachi, 1 & 2 Timothy, 1 & 2 Peter, etc). I think this would have stressed me out, and I wouldn’t have been able to devote so much time to it, if I had attempted this during the school year. It’s the perfect thing to do during summer break, when you have more free time. She facilitated the study very well by allowing me to think for myself, and I didn’t think the questions were too guided or anything. “Jude is only one page - how is this book so long?”, but JHP doesn’t hold back with cross references, linguistics, etc). ![]() I had a great time with this study! It’s veeery in-depth (I started this thinking. I definitely enjoyed this one, and I would recommend it for sure! But, then again, it could also have partially been the fact that I had been in the study for longer than the seven weeks. I mean a seven week study on the tiny letter of Jude is a lot! It was impactful, but particularly toward the end, I felt like there was less to unpack than the five page daily studies were unpacking. I will admit that by the end of the study, I felt like it was being stretched out. And it was definitely nice to have enough space to write the answers to the questions! And I feel like I've grown more confident, not only in my understanding of the letter, but even of its place in the greater work of the Bible as a whole, too. I came away from the study with a deeper understanding of what James was trying to convey to his audience and how to apply that to my life in today's society and culture. ![]() I learned a lot about the letter's historical context and the original intent that made it so much easier to understand than before when I've read through it on my own. The book itself was well laid out and I really enjoyed the way that Perry dissected the letter of Jude. She was succinct, straight to the point, and yet powerful. That said, I only saw the first half of the video content.Īs for the video content I did see, I thought Perry was a very clear teacher. So, this was a bible study my women's bible study group did last year and 2020 kind of swallowed me up halfway through, so I had to go back and finish it on my own. See how this small, obscure book in Scripture still speaks to the church today. In this 7-session study from Jackie Hill Perry, dive into themes of being called, loved, and kept, and learn how to point others to Jesus in grace and truth. God has commanded His beloved church to do the necessary work of contending for the faith in a world of unbelief, and as we do, He will keep us from falling into the same deception. While often overlooked, the Book of Jude remains as relevant today as the time it was written.
